The Behavior Guide
Understand why behavior happens and how to respond with calm, connection-first tools.
A regulation-first approach for families navigating big feelings and daily overwhelm β without shame-based parenting.
They're a sign your child needs support regulating β not more pressure to perform. When a child is overwhelmed, their brain isn't available for learning or listening, and no amount of willpower on your part changes that.
A simple, real-life framework to help you navigate hard moments with calm, clarity, and confidence β practical guidance, not perfectionist parenting standards.
Every child deserves to feel seen and understood.
Every parent deserves support without shame.
Connection, not control, creates lasting change.
Parent with Grace exists to support families raising neurodivergent and big-feeling kids with more calm, connection, and confidence.
"Parenting was never meant to be done perfectly. It was always meant to be done with connection, compassion, and support."
Nicole is a certified parent coach and the founder of Parent with Grace. She's a mother of four β ages 21, 19, 8, and 6 β and lives in a household with mixed neurodivergent energy alongside her husband, who has ADHD.
After spending over 20 years in the medical field, Nicole shifted her approach when traditional parenting methods weren't working for her own family, leading her to nervous-system-based parenting principles rooted in safety, connection, and regulation.
Today, Nicole supports the North County community through the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, serves on the Kids for Peace Kindness Certified Leadership team, and hosts monthly Parent with Grace meetups. She's also the author of the Grace Hollow children's book series β starring Jasper, Evie, Pixie, and Spike β and produces the Parent with Grace podcast.
You are not behind. You are becoming. Take a breath, lead with love, and stay connected.
A simple, regulation-first approach to calmer, more connected family life β built like a house, from the ground up. This isn't about perfect parenting. It's about building a strong, steady foundation.
Calm creates clarity for everything that follows. Before we guide our children, we learn to steady ourselves first. Nervous system safety is the foundation that makes everything possible.
Connection begins with understanding what's happening underneath the behavior. Understand behavior as communication, and meet the need behind it.
Steady parenting begins with regulating ourselves so we can respond with calm, clarity, and confidence β modeling flexibility instead of reacting.
Connection grows when children feel safe, seen, and accepted for who they are β through attunement, boundaries, and routines.
Growth happens together, through connection, co-regulation, and meaningful engagement. Relationship is the starting point β connection opens the door to everything.
Regulation first. Connection always. Growth follows.
Guided by the Calm & Connected Family House approach, we focus on what's beneath the behavior so you can respond with calm, clarity, and confidence.
"This isn't about fixing your child. It's about supporting you."
From regulation tools and gentle children's books to encouraging apparel, every resource is designed to support calmer, more connected family life. Every small shift toward connection matters.
